And I feel awful.
I always make it a point to leave a tip at restaurants. I worked serving food at a retirement home for almost two years in high school, and even though I didn't work for tips, I know how difficult waiting tables can be. People get cranky and demanding and messy, leaving you to deal with their rude comments and spills and crumbs, running around like a chicken with your head cut off.
(Not that my friends and I were such horrible customers. We were actually very polite and not messy at all. I'm just sayin'.)
Point: I never forget to leave a fair tip, even if I'm not completely happy with the service. It's just what I do.
But I was eating at Riviera Maya in the mall earlier and after the food was gone, we sat talking and laughing for nearly an hour. As soon as we realized that it was closing time and we were the only people left, we grabbed our stuff and rushed to pay and leave, not wanting the workers to get stuck waiting around on us.
It wasn't until I got home later on that I realized I forgot to leave a tip. I feel terrible, because our waiter was great... but I suppose there's not much I can do about it now.
Despite my fretting over the lack of tip, I had a great evening catching up with friends. The Ambers (both my sister and my roommate) and I met up with Millie and Bekah at Riviera Maya for a late supper, and our friend Freddie ended up meeting us there, as well. It was great getting the chance to talk and catch up... reminisce about the good ol' days of high school. To make things even better, we ran into another friend, Jacob, as we were leaving the mall.
Speaking about those good ol' days... It does NOT seem like I'm nearly two years out of high school already! Most of the memories we talked about could have taken place yesterday for all I know. It's insane how much time flies. But at the same time, when you consider how much has happened since then, it might as well have been an eternity.
Dang, I feel old.

Millie and I... I love this one!

Bekah edited this on Picnik and I absolutely adore how it turned out.
The quote she used couldn't prove more true for the three of us :)
Though time and distance separate, true friendship never fades.

Aww, I'd feel bad about forgetting a tip too, but don't worry about it too much. If he's a really good waiter, other people probably tipped him too.
I think if I was in the US, I would forget all the time, since it's not something that's "done" here in NZ, so it wouldn't be automatic for me.
