Scripture for Sunday

While waiting for church to start this morning, I began flipping through the little pink notebook I use for Bible studies and sermon notes. I've been using the same notebook since my junior year of high school, so naturally it's packed with Bible verse, quotes, notes, and random thoughts. I'd hate to keep these tidbits to myself and I figured my blog would be the perfect place to post some of my favorite verses and lessons, so here we go- week 1 of Scripture for Sunday. :)

One extremely meaningful verse that I have written down comes from the book of Titus and deals with one of the most hopeful, uplifting topics in Christianity: the infinite amounts of mercy and grace that God bestows upon us. This verse was mentioned briefly during a Bible Girls meeting the summer before my senior year, but it has stuck with me ever since.

When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we have done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.
-Titus 3:4-7
