7:00am - I wake up to my alarm clock right as Amy is getting home (her and the boys tend to stay up pretty late on the weekends, obviously). She comes to my room and we talk for nearly an hour. I love our talks.
8:00am - I start to get up for a shower before realizing that Amber has just started the water in their bathroom. The water heater in our apartment sucks, so I spare both Amber and myself a freezing cold shower by going back to sleep for 30 minutes.
8:35am - I jump in the shower (which stays warm until the last minute or so- it never fails) and then take my time getting ready. The blinds are open, sunshine is flooding my bedroom, and Kelly Clarkson music fills the air. I am happy.
9:45am - Amber and I meet up with Kat and we're off to Westwood Church. It's my and Amber's first Sunday there, and Kat's second, so we're all brand new attendees. I'm excited because I've been looking to try out new churches in the area. Also, I'm loving the fact that it's warm enough to wear jeans and a short-sleeved shirt... no jacket! This weather rocks.
10:00am - Worship service starts. I love everything about this church so far. In the 5 or 10 minutes before service started, I've already met a few other girls from USI. The worship band is great, and the sermon is interesting and straight from the Bible. I meet lots of new people, young and old.
11:30am - An adult prayer groups has prepared a Valentine's Day luncheon in the Fellowship Hall for all of the college kids. We head over immediately following the service. I sit at a table with a really fun group of girls and get to meet some of the older members who prepared the food for us. Everything is delicious! We all ate entirely too much.
12:30pm - Time to drive back to campus. Kat, Amber, and I gush over how yummy the food was and how amazing it feels outside. For the first time in ages, the defrost in my car is OFF and the windows are DOWN.
12:45pm - I change out of church clothes and attack the kitchen. Dishes are washed and put away. Cabinets are cleaned out. Surfaces are wiped down and disinfected. The floor is swept and Swiffer'd. The kitchen now sparkles, and smells like apples.
1:45pm - I balance my checkbook for the first time in about a month. This is probably more of a feat than getting that kitchen back in order. Yay me!
2:15pm - I change into shorts and a t-shirt and go around to the back side of our building, to Kat's. We sit on her balcony with tall glasses of ice water and do homework. I could feel the sun's warm rays hitting my bare legs for the first time since September... Sunshine has to be one of the greatest feelings on Earth. We stay on the balcony until it gets so breezy that it's impossible to keep the pages of our notebooks under control.
3:15pm - Back to my apartment. Amy is awake! Finally. We talk some more while she gets ready for the day... at three o'clock in the afternoon ;)
3:30pm - Walking into the library, my sister forwards me this via text message: "Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling confirmed that she is in the process of writing a new book." Um, HELLO! You're telling me this day wasn't already perfect enough?
3:35pm - Time to grab some Starbucks. There is exactly one bottle of my favorite Naked juice left: Strawberry Banana. Most of the time, they're out and I have to settle for Red Machine. Today is a good day.
3:40pm - All of the study rooms in the library are full, but Amber and I find an empty table on the 4th floor. It's quiet and sunny and peaceful up here.
Which brings me to the present...
4:35pm - I'm still at that table. The window to my left looks down onto the quad. Campus is so pretty. I'm getting ready to tackle a massive list of homework to-do's, but I don't even care. Because today has been lovely so far.
It's days like today that give meaning to the phrase, It's the little things that count. I didn't have to win the lottery or travel to some exotic location or spend lots of money or accomplish some huge goal. I didn't even have to travel any farther than a mile from campus.
All it takes is some sunshine, fellowship, Jesus, and smiles... and I'm happy as a clam.
Hope you are all enjoying a Sunday that's just as wonderful as mine has been.
