I feel like I write these a lot. But maybe that's not the case. Maybe I just think it a lot. Either way, in case you haven't noticed, I'm super excited to be back in Evansville with my lovely roommates and the fabulous group of friends that I refer to as my "USI family." Amber and I are packing up and driving down tomorrow morning!
(Cue music: "Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya! Tomorrow! You're only a day awayyy...")
Don't get me wrong- I adore being in Columbus with my family and my high school friends. Absolutely, 110%, love it. I just get so torn after being in one place for an extended period of time because honestly, my heart's in two places. I literally have two homes. My USI-apartment-home, and my hometown-family-home. And I love them both enormously.
I know that once I'm back in Evansville, I'll be missing my family like crazy. Especially my beautiful, sweet baby sisters. But the way I take turns missing my two homes is similar to the love/hate relationship you experience when the seasons change. I love the cold weather when it first arrives in late October! But after a month or so, although the frigid air is still nice, I can't help but yearn for the warm comfort of 90-degree summer days. And vice versa. It happens every year.
So here's my solution: We pick up the entire city of Evansville. Both of the universities, the Eastland Park Mall, the riverfront, even that dang Lloyd Expressway- all of it! And move it approximately 3.5 hours northeast so that it's situated super close to Columbus. Preferably no more than a 20-minute drive away. The other side of Edinburgh would be nice. I do work at the Outlet Mall in Edinburgh, after all. Placing the Outlet Mall right in between my two homes would be absolutely ideal. I could work there year-round!
So there we have it. Simple as that. We move the city of Evansville closer to Columbus, and I'll never be no more than a half-hour drive away from those I love the most. School, work, home-home, and apartment-home will all be wrapped up in my own little comfort zone. Problem solved.
Now, I am aware that my solution may prove to be a bit daunting. Surely moving a city with a population of 121,000+ will be no simple task. No doubt, I will need one or two (or 4,723...) volunteers to facilitate the process.
Any takers? :)
