EDIT: I just published this post less than 10 minutes ago. Immediately after posting, I checked my Dashboard to get caught up on the newest blog entries and the first one I clicked on happened to be this one by Carlotta (the sweet, super talented photographer I wrote about here!). This particular blog post is about finding hidden beauty in ordinary objects through photography. Carlotta is giving her readers a chance to blog about one photo they have taken and then link up to her original post. Somehow, I managed to do exactly what she challenged before even reading Carlotta's post. Weird, psychic, God-like moment... but I'll take it! :) If you have a special photo you've taken that you want to share with others, feel free to blog about it and link back to Carlotta's post. You have until Thursday at 9:59pm CST to do so.
"So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."
"So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."
John 13:34-35 (NLT)
This is my Project 365 picture from yesterday, the 4th. I'm less than a handful into the year and I can already tell that this photo will be one of my favorites, even 360 days from now.
For me, this photo represents simplicity. Just blocks, spelling out such a profound message: LOVE.
It represents innocence. I got down on my belly to get this shot, and I was giggling as I took it. As soon as they saw me lay down, Kelly and Maddie dropped their own blocks and ran over to me, promptly dropping on their baby (or, should I say, toddler) bellies and feigning concentration over the "tower" that I had created. Their sense of natural curiosity and their desire to do everything that their big sister "Mae Mae" does... It never fails to make me smile.
But most importantly, this photo represents God's greatest commandment to us: Love. Each. Other.
I pray that no matter what hardships you encounter this week, in spite of any hatred or confrontation you may find yourself facing, you'll find the strength to be the bigger person and turn the other cheek. Just like Ali did when that man was mean to her precious momma! And, of course, just like Jesus did.
Try your best to take any frustration or anger or fear or sadness or agitation that you find within yourself, and replace it with the most powerful emotion of all: LOVE.
"Three things will last forever- faith, hope, and love- and the greatest of these is love."
