Update time!

It's been quite a few days since I've logged into Blogger! I've been staying busy. Working a lot, spending time with friends and family, doing lots of reading and playing Sims. Time for an update and then hopefully I'll go back to my normal posting schedule. Seems like it's been forever since I sat down and wrote a real blog entry that didn't consist of just a few pictures or a brief update on my life.

First things first: The recap of my third week of Makeover Monday is being pushed back a week. I started to sit down and post on Monday, but the preceding week had been awful in terms of sticking with my diet/exercise plan. The only thing I could think of to write sounded something like, "This week was an epic fail and I can't even post my weight because I'm too chicken to step on the scale." So instead of beating myself up about that week, I'm just regarding it as a break. Time for a fresh start!

Like I mentioned in my last post, I worked super late all weekend long. I was there until the wee hours of the morning, three nights in a row. I had Monday and Tuesday off, and I used the time mainly to relax and unwind. Monday afternoon was spent at the library, and my best friend Kirsten came over that evening. We hung out at my house for awhile, then took a late-night walk around the neighborhood. I stayed home most of the day Tuesday, working on laundry and reading.

On Wednesday, Bekah came over for lunch. Mom and I (but mostly Mom) put together a meal of pasta, breadsticks, salad, peaches, fresh veggies, and cottage cheese, with cake for dessert. It was pretty yummy, if I do say so myself. :) I took a little nap after she left and then worked all evening. It was one of the best nights of work I've had so far- not too crazy, but I stayed busy, and we almost got out on time!

I got sucked into a book ("The Blue Girl" by Charles de Lint) and stayed up until early this morning reading. I finished it! But was extremely tired when Mom woke me up around 11:00. I took a nap later on in the afternoon, then went out to Katie's house later on in the evening for mani/pedis and tie-dyeing.

Our little girls' night tonight was so much fun- of course, it always is when I'm with any of my DGFC ladies. The t-shirt I tie-dyed didn't turn out so great, but it was a learning experience! I'll do better next time, haha. Rachael's shirt was absolutely perfect. I'm jealous.

While our shirts were drying, we stuck in a movie (She's Out of My League- hilarious) and painted our nails. They all did their fingers and toes, but I decided to try a French tip pedicure and it took me FOREVER because I'm such a perfectionist. By the time I was finished, they had been done for almost 15 minutes and I was sick of nail polish for the time being.

We finished up the movie then decided to take a walk at 11 p.m. to burn off all the calories we had consumed, as Katie had provided us with an abundance of junk food. We ended up walking almost four miles through country roads, way out in the boonies. It was pitch black and super creepy (especially when we got to the bridge by Anderson Falls), but we were equipped with two tiny flashlights, a can of pepper spray, and Katie's dogs, Tanner and Tucker. During the walk we talked and reminisced and sang at the top of our lungs, although I was a little creeped out the whole time, expecting something to jump out at me from the cornfields. Once we were back in Katie's basement, safe and sound, I was able to reflect on how much fun it had been.

We spent a few more hours talking and watching another movie (Garden State this time, though we didn't get to finish it because the DVD messed up), and I left shortly after midnight. Now I'm back home, cuddled up in the big comfy chair, thinking about reading more of my newest book ("John 3:16" by Nancy Moser) then heading to bed soon. Today was a great day but now I'm pretty sleepy.

Au revoir for now!
